OK some of you may know about this project of ours, others may not. We have once again decided to punish ourselves by buying another fixer upper. We are slow learners. Obviously the duplex didn't scare us off. This one is actually really close to our house, it is 2 doors down from Ryan and Jennie. It has gone through forclosure once already and was headed for the auction block again. I did a little research on this house and found the owners. With an agents help we located the owners and offered a short sale bid. It took forever but it finally closed in May. We knew full well what we were getting ourselves into. The previous owners gutted the house to remodel it, ran into marital problems, and walked away from it. It is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, on .4 acres with a pool. It is a little smaller than our house and yard, but it has the extra bedroom plus room in the garage for an office to be built for Justin. The work has begun, although lots slower than I had hoped. We are trying to get Neil (Justin's bro) to come and help out.
This is the entry way leading down the hallway. They were attempting to raise the ceilings in the hall. Hallelujah!!! I hate the low hall ceilings. All the duct work for the AC needed to be moved as it ran through the low ceilings. This isn't done yet.
Same hall with the new ceiling joists in. The wiring is still being rerouted.
This is the view from the living room to the dining room to the kitchen to the family room (yellow walled room). This is how we bought it. I have had the door widened going into the living room, moved the doorway to the kitchen over to the right so that I can have a whole wall of cabinets in the kitchen. The white cabinets now reside in the dump here. We have moved the dining room wall out 3 1/2 feet to match the rest of the house and have installed french doors instead of the big window. I am hoping we are done with the demolition for the most part. I am excited to have the house put back together. We have a long way to go, but we need to move quickly, the kitchen cabinets arrive at the end of the month or first week of August.
