Mammoth

Justin has to go to Mammoth and Bishop a couple of times a month to visit his Starbucks stores there. We decided to leave the kids with my mom and just the two of us go and hang out/work. As you can see from the photos, it didn't quite work out that way. Mom got really sick and finally went to the doc the day we were leaving, so she was out of commission for us. The room was paid for already, so we decided to take the kids minus Blake with us. This was our condo and it had this great eagle statue outside of it. The sun was down, hence the poor lighting/color.

Conner climbed up this rock all by himself and tried sliding down the other side before I could reach him. He is a bit of a daredevil. That rock was about 10 feet tall. This is what the kids and I did while Justin attended a brief meeting at the store. We had seen Wall-E that day. Never again will I take Conner and Davin to the movies. Conner hated being in the theatre and Davin kept getting out of his seat to find me. This was a day that I didn't like my kids much. I don't like taking the kids to a place that I don't know. I like to have activities planned out and know where I can take them. Mammoth is gorgeous, and I would love to see things there, but the little ones would have been bored.
While Justin visited the store in Bishop, the kids and I went to the city park where we feed the ducks and fish, played on the playground, and waded in the creek running through the park. When we were tired of that, I drove 5 miles north to the town of Laws and went to the Laws museum. Totally worth the free admission!!! It would have been worth paying 5 - 7 dollars per person if we had to. It used to be a rail stop of a short railway line. It is a narrow track that is now none extistant, but this museum pays tribute to it and the time period. They had houses, shops, dr. offices, barns, wagons, trains that the kids could climb on, ring the bells, and blow the whistles. It had an old school house, smithy shop, a turn about, old plows and tractors, a jail, fire house, and much more. Every bldg. had displays with things from that time. We loved it. I thought it would only last for 30 min. but I was sad when Justin called to say he was done, and we had been there for 1 1/2 hours already. This is Davin in the kiddie train after we finished the tour.
Here are Brayden, Maryn, and Davin at the park feeding the ducks.
